The last weekend in February was the Level I Forest City Invitational. It was a great meet and we brought along some of our level II divers who were ready to compete at level I. The divers had a great time with great results and it was a great meet. (did I say great too much?)
Kate Brechun had an amazing meet. In the open division, she took home bronze on both boards, making senior point standards on the 3M.
Nate Grobe, Ali Moussa and Andrew Pinney all dove D division, finishing 4th, 5th and 6th respectively on 1M. They dove awesome for their first time out! Nate also dove 3M, placing 4th and achieving national standard scores at his first level I meet! Way to go Nate.
C.J. competed B and took gold on 1M and 3M and silver on tower! He was named Outstanding B diver for the competition. C.J. also dove open and won GOLD on 1M (his first gold in the open category ever) and silver on the 3M. He achieved national standards on all his boards and senior standards on the 3M.
Andrew Dolson dove in the A category and was on the podium all the way. He won silver on 1M and bronze on 3M. He achieved national standard scores on teh 3M and is qualified for that board for Junior Nationals.
But our best diver of the whole meet was Curtis Penner, our master diver. His diving was so amazing, you could tell right from the beginning of the event that he was destined for gold!!! He kept his diving consistent and did indeed finish with top placing. Way to go Curtis!!!
The next competition for our Level I divers will be in Etobicoke at the JD Invitational at the end of March break. Good luck to them as they again compete for their national standards and our B divers try to qualify to compete for team Canada in Auchen, Germany. This is a big meet for them!
