CAMO Invitational, December 1st to 4th, 2011

camo2011One of the perks available to Tier 1 divers who place in the top 12 at Nationals is the ability to compete at the International CAMO Invitational, an annual dive meet in Montreal that welcomes the best junior and senior divers from around the world. Six of our Tier 1 divers – CJ, Brett, Nate, Aniko, Raine and Kevin – were invited to participate at this year’s meet.  Following directly on the heels of the Nepean Ottawa Invitationals, these divers ultimately participated in a 12 day diving marathon that tested their endurance and proved they had the necessary stamina. The Zieba siblings, who were in Montreal for the week, were an enthusiastic cheer squad for their team mates.

Competing against some of the best divers from countries such as Mexico, the US, Columbia, Japan, China, Morocco, Sweden, England, Italy, and Germany, this meet was an especially good experience for Aniko, Raine and Kevin who were participating for the first time.  They were able to watch Canadian Olympic divers perform as well as meet a few in person. Roseline Filion was a particular favourite who posed for a photo with some of the KWDC divers.

Highlights of this meet included silver and personal best for CJ on Men’s A Platform and a 9th place finish for Nate on Men’s C Platform.  Thanks to everyone for making this a relaxing and fun week in Montreal for kids and parents alike.
