On the weekend before Easter, nine KW divers participated in a Quebec provincial meet in Pointe Claire. A brand new 50m long pool was put through its paces as over 150 divers from several provinces plunged into the diving tank at the Malcolm Knox Aquatic Center. It was a fantastic opportunity to become comfortable with the facility that will host the 2011 Speedo Junior National Diving Championships in early July and to meet some new friends. The overall consensus was that the pool passed muster and the kids are eager to return to showcase their skills for Nationals.
As a result of an impressive finish on 1m, CJ is now fully qualified on all boards in both A and Open. Mohamed attained his elusive qualifier on 3m and scored personal bests on both his boards. Competing his 405C for the first time off 7m proved the charm for Ali as he received straight 7’s from the judges and a huge hit of self confidence. Unfortunately for Gabriel, a foot injury kept him from joining his team mates in Pointe Claire but everyone is hopeful he will be well enough to compete at Provincials next month in Thunder Bay.
