KW Divers went to Etobicoke this past weekend with hopes of becoming fully qualified on 1m, 3m and platform. As the first Group 1 event of the year for most divers, this event provided the opportunity to obtain the second qualifying scores that would allow them to compete at Junior Nationals in July. And despite the tough competition and very long days, everyone got at least one qualifier.
CJ is now fully qualified in the Open event, Brett in A, and Nate in C. Hard fought battles were won by Mohamed, Aniko and Raine, who are all now fully qualified on one board. Ali, Andy, Gabriel and Kevin are fully qualified on 1m and 3m. Platform remains the elusive goal for Brett in Open and most of the C and D divers! But, with one more Group 1 event in Thunder Bay later in May, there is every opportunity for our divers to achieve their platform requirements.
A quick glance at the Meet Results page for Tier I shows a wide swath of green indicating full qualification for Nationals and underlined personal bests. It is no wonder, therefore, that KWDC came in third amongst 19 competing teams at JD. That is a fantastic achievement for our mid-size team and big congratulations go out to all divers for a very successful meet.
Next up….a trip to Pointe Claire, Quebec in April to test drive the new pool where Nationals will be held in July.
