2009 Scarborough Snowball Classic

At the end of January, we sent 18 divers to compete in the Level II/III Meet in Scarborough. Our divers did extremely well in each of their divisions! We certainly brought home the bling.

In the A age group, Daria Vela won bronze on 1M, competing at Level II and Silver on 3M at level III. Khoral Hare won Silver on 1M at level III.

In the B age group, Brawn Mahoney and Matthew Weigel competed Level II on 1M and level III on 3M with Brawn winning silver and Matt winning gold on each board. Bradley Norris took Silver on 1M at level III.

In the C age group, we had four boys competing on 1M at level III with Brendan Dolson taking gold, Brayden Halayko taking silver, Michael Hoy placing 5th and Mohamed Moussa getting sixth. In girls C, level III, Mayan Reiter took 11th. At level II on 1M, Bradley Muise took silver and Paul Hewson came 4th. Bradley also came second on 3M at level III and Paul took the Bronze.

In the D age group, Raine Mahoney competed on the 1M at level III for girls and Jacob Davis competed level III on 1M for boys. They both brought home silver . Jessica Penner competed at level II on 1M, also taking silver and she won gold on 3M at level III. In the boys 1M, level II, Ali Moussa took silver and Andrew Pinney took bronze. On 3M at level III, Ali took gold and Andrew again won the bronze. Nate Grobe competed at level I for the first time at this meet on 1M and won gold. He also took gold on 3M at level II.

At the end of the event, Jessica Penner was awarded the Adam Quibell Award of Excellence for the highest raw score on one dive, where the degree of difficulty isn’t factored in. She and Rebecca from Gatquatic Divers tied with 38.5 points, breaking the previous record of 38 points. They will get their name on a trophy and both received a plaque to keep. Jessica won the award for her front jump, pike on the 3M board.
