Tier II Provincials – K|W Diving Club retain their title

We Have the Cup!!

This past June, the Kitchener Waterloo diving club hosted the Tier II Provincial Diving Meet, right here at the Waterloo Memorial Rec Center. Over 100 divers attended the meet from Ottawa, London, Burlington, the GTA and our very own Kitchener-Waterloo and the surrounding region.

Our club had 22 divers attending the event in the various age categories. Our goal – defend the trophy from 2009 for top club. Our achievement - we defended our title ….. and more.

Beginning with our youngest category – 11 years old and under – we had 5 divers competing. Aniko and Raine competed both 1 meter and 3 meter. Aniko took gold on the 1 meter and silver on the 3 meter and Raine took 7th on the 1 meter and bronze on the 3 meter

The boys who competed were Jacob, Gabriel and Alex. They were 8th, 9th and 10th, respectively on the 1 meter. Gabriel also competed 3 meter where he took gold.

Our next age division – 12 and 13 years old- had 3 competitors from our club. Melanie, in her first meet ever, dove on the l meter. At her very first meet, she took 4th place. Our young men in this division were Alten and Paul, fighting all the way for top honours. Alten grabbed the silver on 1 meter with Paul taking 4th. Then Paul took the silver on 3 meter, with Alten getting the Bronze.

Next up were the 14 and 15 age category. Lori had stellar results with a gold on the 3 meter and 4th on the 1 meter. In the Level II category we had a fierce battle between our divers. On the 1 meter board Brent took gold, Brawn took Silver, Abel took 4th and Brayden was 5th. The three “B”’s competed on the 3 meter in Level II with Triple Crown – Brawn – gold, Brent-silver and Brayden- Bronze. On the 3 meter Abel and Lukas competed level III, coming in 2nd and 5th, respectively. Michael and Lukas were Level III on the 1 meter with Michael taking gold and Lukas taking bronze.

The last category – age 16 and over – saw 7 of our divers compete. Ben and Emily took double gold in their events, with Shannon close behind with a gold and bronze. Bradley dove 1 meter, with a silver placing. Tara, our very own learn to dive coach Tara, dove both boards with a 7th place finish on the 1 meter and a fourth place finish on the 3 meter. All her little learn to diver’s were so proud! And to round out our over 16, Khoral dove 1 meter with an 11th place finish.

With so many medal placings, we again took home the most team points of the meet and retained our title of Top Tier II club in Ontario!!!

Lastly, for the first time ever, the Tier II meet honoured one diver in each category, as the outstanding diver of the meet. In D, Gabriel was named Outstanding “D” boy diver. In B, Brent was named Outstanding diver, and Ben and Emily took the honour for A.

And to top off the whole meet, to finish with an incredible record for our club, our very own coach, Roland Lipki was named Outstanding Tier II Coach of the year.

The Kitchener Waterloo Diving Club seriously ROCKS!!!
