A week after competing in Ottawa and Montreal, CJ and Brett were off to Victoria for the first Senior’s level competition of the season. It was an exciting time to be competing at this level since top divers in Victoria are eligible to attend the Diving World Cup in London England in February 2012, a test event for the Olympic Games this coming summer.
At the Senior Level, the top 12 divers in preliminaries then go on to the semi-finals, and the top 8 in that category compete in the finals. On 10m platform CJ made it right through all levels, finishing 6th in the finals. In 3m preliminaries, CJ placed 8th and later in the semis took 11th place.
Brett came in 19th in 3m preliminaries in a field where less than 15 points separated him from 12th place. Not only did he outperform divers much older than himself, he competed two new dives for the first time. On 10m platform, Brett took 17th place in preliminaries.
Since this is an Olympic year, the 1m board is not being competed at Seniors. However in synchro, Brett and CJ retained their placement from last year, bringing home the silver medal.
Fantastic showing for our KWDC boys!
